No. Every image and video is processed right in your browser using your own device's power. Your files never touch our servers or anyone else's. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will keep working.
For images, you can convert to WebP or AVIF (or both at once). For video, you can export MP4 (H.264) or WebM (VP9). You can also cap the largest dimension to shrink oversized files.
WebP is the safe default: it's smaller than JPEG/PNG and works everywhere. AVIF usually produces even smaller files at the same quality, but takes longer to create and is best for modern browsers. When in doubt, choose WebP, or select "Both" and compare.
Video is far heavier to process than a photo, and it's all happening on your device instead of a data center. The first video also downloads a one-time video engine (about 30 MB) that's then cached. Shorter clips and lower quality settings finish faster.
There's no hard limit, but everything runs in your browser's memory, so very large videos (long, high-resolution clips) can be slow or run out of memory on lower-powered devices. For big files, trim them first or lower the quality. Images are quick even in large batches.
Image optimization works on modern mobile browsers. Video transcoding is supported but noticeably slower on phones, and very large videos may not fit in mobile memory. A laptop or desktop is best for video.
