Introduction
PopCandi AI is changing the way recruiting works—cutting staffing times and delivering better candidates through an AI-driven, always-on recruiting platform.
I was tasked with building both a marketing site and a minimum viable product (MVP) for their SaaS recruiting platform. The entire project was custom-coded in Astro, creating a sophisticated web application from the ground up.
The platform integrates with Airtable for database management, Clerk for organization-based authentication and member access control. Companies log in to view active roles with matched candidates for each role, complete with isolated feedback that remains private to their organization.
What sets this project apart is the complex multi-system architecture required. I built custom webhooks connecting Clerk to Airtable via Astro API endpoints, enabling real-time organization sync when companies sign up. The database design features sophisticated many-to-many relationships—candidates can appear in multiple company pipelines simultaneously while maintaining completely separate feedback and evaluation data for each.
The platform includes a candidate feedback system with star ratings, skill assessments, and interview recommendations that automatically sync across the stack. There is also bidirectional data synchronization between Airtable and the frontend, ensuring hiring managers always see up-to-date candidate information.
To give my client full control over their marketing content, I implemented PagesCMS for the blog and other site components. This allows the PopCandi team to easily add new blog posts and update dynamic elements like team members and testimonials—without touching any code.

Challenges
The project required complex data architecture with many-to-many relationships across five interconnected tables. Ensuring complete data isolation between companies while allowing candidates to appear in multiple pipelines added significant technical complexity.
Custom webhook integrations, multi-platform synchronization, and organization-based authentication all needed to work together flawlessly.
